Reading Summary
900-1100 words. Summarize all of the assigned readings in paragraph form. Refer to the readings by author year or abbreviated titles. Demonstrate that you have read and understood the material. Your goal should be to concisely summarize the main theories, events, themes, or results from a reading in your own words. Paraphrase the readings without using quotes or copying and pasting large excerpts from the readings (that’s plagiarism so definitely avoid that!). Do not use quotations! The best way to write the reading summary is to devote one paragraph for each reading and to summarize in your own words what you believe are the main points of the reading. Bad grammar will count against your grade so please proofread!
Reflection
300-400 words. Express your opinions about the readings. You do not need to have an opinion on all of the readings. You can focus on one or two or talk more broadly about how the readings relate to a class topic or current issue. Feel free to also critique the readings here, especially if you don’t agree with them or don’t like them! It is up to you what you chose to write about in the reflection section.
