2. Demonstrate several perspectives of citizens in the US during the Civil War in the form of a video diary in character. You may speak in the first person.
Your unit project should include:
• Introduction
o Identify the three perspectives that you will share in your report or video
o Summarize any significant historical events that your readers may need to know about to understand these perspectives.
• Demonstrate the perspective of a US citizen in either a border state or the American West.
o Mention at least four of the following events:

? The formation of the Confederate States of America
• Demonstrate the perspective of a woman or African American involved in the Civil War.

? African Americans serving in the army
? The Emancipation Proclamation
? The ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment
? The draft law
? General Lees surrender
• Demonstrate the perspective of a citizen of the Southern States after the Civil War.
o Mention at least four of the following events:
? The assassination of President Lincoln
? The ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment
? The formation of the Ku Klux Clan
? The election of African Americans to the House of Representatives and the Senate
? Economy and industry in the South
? Voting restrictions and the Jim Crow laws
• Conclusion:
o Explain why these perspectives are important for people today to understand and remember.
