Instruction: You must follow the assignment due date schedule set out in the Course Calendar very carefully. Prior to completing each assignment, the student is expected to read the assigned chapters of the text as well as the accompanying lecture pages as set out in the Course Content section. The student is expected to fully explain and support any answer or conclusion submitted in the weekly assignment. Answers that are conclusory in nature will receive minimal credit. Once each assignment is completed, Microsoft Word or .pdf document and submitting the document. Points will be deducted for incomplete answers. Read Chapter 4 (Intellectual Property Rights), 1. Chapter 5 (Internet Law, Social Media, & Privacy), and Chapter 6 (Criminal Law & Cyber Crime) in the textbook as well as the lecture Notes.
2. Once you have completed the assigned reading, create a document to place in the Dropbox that provides your answers to the following tasks. (Refer to the Participation, Grading, and Assessments section of the Syllabus for guidance on completing the weekly assignments.)
3.Tell me whether the following acts are larceny, robbery, or embezzlement: 1) A woman leaves her purse in a classroom by accident when class is over. After she leaves the room another person takes the purse. 2) A woman entrusts her purse to a friend while she goes to answer the phone. The friend steals the purse. 3) A woman is getting into her car in the parking lot when a thief approaches, points a gun at her and takes the purse.
4. Professor Wise is teaching a summer seminar in business torts at State University. Several times during the course, he makes copies of relevant sections from business law texts and distributes them to his students. Wise does not realize that the daughter of one of the textbook authors is a member of his seminar. She tells her father about Wise’s copying activities, which have taken place without her father’s or his publisher’s permission. Her father sues Wise for copyright infringement. Wise claims protection under the fair use doctrine. Who will prevail? Fully explain your reasoning.
Read “The Right to be Forgotten” on page 145 of the textbook and write a paragraph addressing how “the right to be forgotten” could affect free speech.
