OPTION #3.
For class sessions 5 and 7-12 when we discuss different racial/ethnic groups or time periods, rather than taking notes as described in Option 1 or 2 by addressing one assigned reading/video at a time, you can address the following prompts since you should be prepared to discuss them in class while making sure that you quote or summarize a point from each assigned reading or video for the week. Use each of the prompts below as headings in your notes, and include at least two examples to answer each prompt.
What ideas/ideology informed or guided the actions of those in power (i.e., decision- makers and educators) towards this group?
What policies were created by those in power that impacted this group?
What practices were implemented by those in power? What things were done to this
group?
What types of resistance and resiliency did this group demonstrate?
What were the results or effects of these ideas, policies, practices and resistance on those involved and on society?
What were the similarities and differences between this group’s experiences and those of other racial/cultural groups we’ve studied?
What connections do you see between past and present?
How does this social and educational history impact your view of social realities and
