Ask permission from your principal to observe two teachers for 15 minutes.

Select strategies, handouts, and processes mentioned in this chapter to use during the observation to gather information and to determine what should be addressed when giving feedback to these two teachers.

Conduct the observations and meet with each teacher one-on-one for 15 minutes each to discuss your observations.  Give proper praise and useful feedback.

Discuss the experience with your school principal.

Write a reflection that includes the following:

  • summary of Teacher 1 observation and feedback session
  • summary of Teacher 2 observation and feedback session
  • summary of discussion with school principal
  • reflection on what was learned during the observations and feedback conversations with the teachers and the principal.
  • Relate your thinking to information learned in this unit about the Observation and Feedback lever, as well as the five steps mentioned in the Schmoker text.
