You will complete this paper in four parts worth 350 points total (35% of the course grade). This paper assesses your ability to critically analyze primary resources, research related secondary sources, develop research and writing skills, synthesize knowledge about an important subject, participate in peer critique, and revise your work. Your paper must include historical analysis of at least four primary sources from the list of primary sources located at the end of each chapter of your eText and at least two secondary sources from external, academic sources. Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable primary or secondary source. Cite all sources using the Chicago Style. The paper should be double-spaced with Times New Roman Font, and use one-inch margins. All papers will be checked for plagiarism. Part of papers or whole papers submitted to prior courses, including this course, will not be accepted, and will receive an automatic zero.
The Rough Draft must include (1) 1000 words, (2) a revised thesis statement, (3) three primary sources from your eText and (4) at least two secondary sources formatted in Chicago Style to support your thesis. If you revised your thesis statement, please also include your initial thesis statement in the draft for context. The Rough Draft should also be free of grammatical and spelling errors. The Peer Critique must follow the guidelines provided in the Peer Critique Template.
The Dropbox assignment must include: (1) 2000 words of original narrative (not including the title page, endnote page, or Bibliography), (2) at least four primary sources from your eText, and (3) at least two secondary sources related to the issue from external, academic sources. NOTE: Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable primary or secondary source. For full credit, the Final Draft of your Research Paper must also: (1) use Chicago Style consistently and correctly including one-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font, approximately 250 words per page, a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, endnote page, and Bibliography, (2) elaborate on major points with degree of specificity and synthesis, (3) clarify premises using coherent diction, and (4) avoid spelling errors, improper grammar, flawed punctuation, and awkward language.
