Prompt: In “The Significance of Ethics and Ethics Education in Daily Life (Links to an external site.),” I discuss what I call the “everyday ethicist,” or, the ways in which ethics is relevant to all of us in one way or another, from young children to adults and professionals. In addition, in the short reading by Velasquez et al. (“What is Ethics? (Links to an external site.)”) you found a brief but insightful discussion of what ethics is not (followed, in the conclusion of the reading, by a brief definitional statement on ethics).
Taking all of these sources of information together, in your writing assignment, discuss your current understanding of ethics. Based on your current understanding and these sources, what is ethics? And in what ways, if any, do you think ethics is relevant to life as a future professional?
