For this assignment, you will choose one reading and write an essay that analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, or both of that reading. You can choose ONE of the assigned readings.
Your introduction should have a brief constructive summary of the text you are analyzing followed by a clear, well-developed thesis statement at the end of that introduction.
You must answer ALL of the following questions in your analysis & provide textual support for your answers:
What does the author hope to accomplish and convince readers of? What is the reading’s purpose? What audiences does the argument address and what audience does it ignore, and why? Does this help/hurt the argument?
What kind of evidence does the author use to prove her/his/their claims? Is it sufficient? Is it lacking? Why? Is the support credible?
Is this piece of writing strong, weak, or both? In other words, did it meet its purpose? You may very briefly mention your personal opinion but remember that an article is typically considered effective when its purpose comes across clearly and convincingly to its target audience.
