Wireless Physical Layer

Information Technology homework help: Explain the key characteristics of wireless physical layer fundamentals.
Understand the basic network architectures, technologies, and standards such as wireless LANs, ad hoc networks, and mesh networks.
Critically evaluate and assess the design, implementation, and management of wireless networks.
Identify network security threats and issues when designing and implementing a wireless network.
Style: The submission should be a report including: –
A network requirement based on the scenario selected
– A wireless networks concepts explanation of technologies used in the proposal
– A network topology with old and new equipment
– Design considerations (Power, Security, Costing etc) detailed in the description section
– Lessons learnt during designing the project
– Summary
As a wireless network consultant, you have been employed by GhostCom, a security consultancy company, to expand their network wirelessly. Your role is to propose a wireless network expansion with all the associated considerations of network proposals.
Rationale: This assessment will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of wireless networks, as well as your ability to propose realistic network expansions to clients. It will also allow you to demonstrate your understanding of network management, analysis, and security considerations.
Description: Please See CASE Study below for details

Detailed Description
Wireless Network Project Scenario
GhostCom is a Security Consultancy Company that is planning to expand their network. For that, they decided to go for a wireless network as a solution for this expansion, due to its ability to cover different requirements like mobility for the staff, wide coverage, availability, security and potentially lower costs than its wired counterparts.
The blueprint of the company is provided with two separate floors.
The company wants full coverage and seamless/soft handovers for voice calls. The budget is not an issue as long as its justified. They receive guests at the company HQ and sometimes run seminars to explain about security solutions, so they want them to be segregated from the rest of the network. Feel free to assume other requirements if needed as long as they are reasonable.
GhostCom already have a wired infrastructure that involves non-PoE switches, a firewall and a router, you do not need to design the wired infrastructure unless to refer to it in your design. As a wireless network consultant, you have been asked to provide a solid and reasonable proposal for their wireless expansion project which meets their requirements.
Keep in mind that GhostCom is expected to have multiple proposals on the table, so you need your proposal to standout and get chosen for implementation.
The audience of your report is the client, therefore adjust your writing style accordingly to sound like a real wireless network proposal presented to a real client, and NOT a student presenting to the lecturer.
Requirements:
GhostCom is asking you for a proposal report about the full study of this expansion. Usually, the overall architecture is initially formulated. Based upon the architecture, a detailed design is constructed. It is critical that the vendors and products selected integrate with the existing wired infrastructure and that the network architecture meets user requirements and policies set forth during the planning stage, including considerations of AP power and network security.
Areas to consider are, but not limited to, the following:
a) Understand and document user requirements based on the scenario you have selected
b) Determine WLAN architecture and present network topology
c) WLAN integration into existing infrastructure
d) Research WLAN vendor and product portfolios
e) Network topology
f) Security considerations (authentication, authorization, accounting, single sign‐on, etc.) and why is it important to consider security
g) Network capacity and provisioning
h) Identify network management and monitoring tools
i) Site surveys and areas of coverage (using the provided blueprint and heatmap software/simulation)
j) Network device detailed configurations
k) IP addressing schemes
l) AP positioning and reasoning
m) Project management and implementation plan (how long would it take, services that may be impacted during implementation…)
n) Proper referencing for the used technologies.
o) Roles responsibilities (who is responsible for network management, maintenance, training etc…)
p) Document lessons learned from the project
q) Executive summary Keep in mind the essential principles of project management while preparing this project study.
Note: Please make sure not to exceed 3000 words.
