Week 2 Project
Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease is common in children 5 years and younger (CDC, 2022). However, anyone can get Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease because it is very contagious. In a hypothetical outbreak of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease the number of cases reported during February and March 2022 were reported in Table 1 and 2 below. Using CDC’s Epicurve Excel Spreadsheet construct the Epi curve and answer the following items:
- Describe the type of curve and interpret the curve.
- Determine the incubation period and justify it using the curve.
- Determine the Epi curve based on relevant factors using Table 2. (For this example, use the columns labeled confirmed, probable and possible cases for the age specific information).
- Using the steps of an outbreak investigation, discuss the procedure you will use to investigation of hand, foot mouth disease.
