Watch television for at least an hour (episodes on netflix counts) or watch any movie made within the last five years. Watch with a critical eye. First, are minority races represented in primetime shows? If so, how are they portrayed–realistically or stereotypically? Do the characters have real emotions–and a full range of emotions? Or do they just have the emotions that seem politically correct for the time and place that the program considers? Are their emotions predictable? Are minority races represented in a negative or positive light? For instance, do people of color tend to be the “bad guys” while white characters uphold the law? Finally, write a short summary of your findings here.
