Having taught our Abnormal Psychology class for over two decades, I believe that it is imperative to have this discussion as part of the ‘reality check’ of the course curriculum.
From my observations, there are currently more stressors your children and young people are experiencing due to many of the challenges of 21st century life, some of which are discussed in the articles and videos below.
Certainly, COVID 19 is a new universe of stressors previously experienced, and children’s responses to many of the requirements for the pandemic ‘may’ have lasting effect if the child does not receive the kind of support, discussion, and nurturing required.
It has been said that there is ‘no manual’ for parenting. I hope that this course helps you to see that, if any subject NEEDS a manual, it is the subject of parenting.
