The textbook discusses 3 domains of human development and the role of nature (genes) and nurture (environment). Select one characteristic that applies to you (or someone you know very well) from each of the 3 domains*, and discuss the role(s) of nature and nurture or the interplay between the two:
One physical/biological characteristic (related to health, illness, appearance, fitness, etc.). Examples: hair color and texture, eye color, body type, athleticism, allergies, etc.
One cognitive characteristic. Examples: intelligence, academic strengths or achievement, 2nd language, memory, reasoning, problem-solving, impulse control, attention, learning, verbal skills, visuospatial skills, etc.
One psychosocial/socioemotional characteristic. Examples: personality traits such as introversion/extroversion, emotional functioning, mental health, fears/phobias, habits, hobbies, preferences, etc.
*The Nature of Development discussed in the first Chapter, page 13.
The three (3) Domains are: (1) Biological (physical), (2) cognitive (mental/psychological), and (3) psychosocial/socioemotional processes
In social work we conduct Bio-Psycho-Social evaluations of our clients, thus, assessing these three domains.
