Students have to write an 900-1,200-word paper analyzing one of the books from the list provided below. Students must develop their own thesis based on the chosen book and either critically evaluate the author’s argument or use the work as a primary source to better understand a specific time period or event. Students can incorporate assigned readings from the class in their paper, or additional sources obtained through additional research as well. However, any secondary sources not from the class must be peer-reviewed. Papers that are under or over the word requirement will be deducted points.
Your paper needs to develop an argument and convince the reader of your point of through your analysis of the chosen book (along with additional primary or secondary sources if you choose to do additional research). Students will be graded on the analytical insight and thoughtfulness that is reflected in the paper.
Papers must be typed, double-spaced with 12-point font with 1-inch margins, and 900 – 1,200 words in length. All papers need to be properly cited using either MLA (Links to an external site.) or Chicago Manual of Style (Links to an external site.) with a bibliography. Papers that are under the required word count or missing proper citations will lose a significant amount of points
