Read and complete the UCAR simulation (Links to an external site.)
Estimate your albedo (10 pts)
Choose a surface based on the first initial of your first name.
asphalt: A-C
clouds: D-F
desert sand: H-J
fresh snow or ice: K-M
forest: N-P
grassland: Q-S
ocean: T-V
old; melting snow/ice W-X
sea ice: Y-Z
Choose 3 different brightnesses (must be at least 10% difference) these values will be noted in post
Take a screenshot of 1 (share this in your post for others to see)
Using your surface and the data collected: Under your screen shot, List a place, city, lake, ocean, region, a street, a building etc) in the world that would mainly be made up of your surface and would have a similar albedo assuming earth had no atmosphere.
Answer 1 of the following questions: Based off the first letter of your last name use a minimum of 5 sentences, must cite an article, youtube video, or website related to your topic (10 pts)
A-E: Today climate is warming because of extra greenhouse gases. As warmer temperatures melt ice, how will that change the albedo and temperature?
F-J: How does the reflectivity (albedo) of different substances affect the amount of energy they absorb?
K-O: How does melting of ice in the sea and on land affect Earth systems?
P-T: How can feedback loops impact Earth’s systems?
U-Z How can changes in albedo and the amount of ice impact Earth’s climate and vice versa?
