CELEBRITY MENTAL HEALTH PAPER (25%):
Research is an integral part of your degree program; therefore, a 3–5-page research paper specifically focused on a specific disorder. Each student is to choose a living Celebrity who has openly and publicly shared their Mental Illness diagnosis or journey. Then, research that person’s diagnosis and disorder(s).
The paper should include the Celebrity’s full name, DSM diagnoses, history/background, family background (if available), coping strategies utilized (good and bad), and whether Celebrity was taking psychotropic medications and receiving psychotherapy. Discussion in the paper should include DSM definition, prevalence, the population affected the most, prognosis, and treatment options, traditional and non-traditional, for a psychological disorder(s) of your chosen celebrity. Lastly, conclude with how your celebrity is doing today and how are they successfully dealing with their diagnosis, i.e., psychotherapy, psychotropic medications, or other forms of mental health assistance (traditional and non-traditional), and what you would add to their treatment based on your textbook understanding of his/her mental health diagnosis. **You may not choose Demi Lovato, Chrissy Teagan, or Adele, or deceased celebrities.
Your Research Paper will utilize APA Style, 12-point font, Times New Roman, Double Spaced, Page Numbering, (No abstract necessary), etc. Papers should include a Cover Page and a Reference Page (not included in 3-5 pages). Papers should include at least four (4) references 1 from a Book or Peer-Reviewed Journals and 3 from Magazines such as Psychology Today and Online Magazines and Articles.
