Question One – Argumentative Essay
Noam Chomsky, an American linguist and educator, gave a lecture called: “Education
For Whom and For What?” In this lecture, he presents a sharp contrast between
education as indoctrination1 and education as a vehicle which enables people to become
themselves (agency2
).
Based on the title of Chomsky’s lecture, write a well-structured essay of 500 words in
which you argue whether formal education, provided by schools and universities, is a
means of indoctrination or agency.
