These articles are referred to as Op-Ed articles because they contain a writer’s opinion and the purpose is to persuade and influence the reader. If you select a local or national article, narrow down the culture. Consider the language used by that culture.
Now examine the language used by the writer.

What words standout? How do these words influence meaning?
How do cultural influences affect language usage?
Define culture in the context of written documents.
How could these sentences be rephrased to convey a different attitude toward the subject matter?
