Pre-writing assignment:
Write a paragraph (must be at least seven sentences) about your commute (by car, bus, foot) to school, work, a favorite place, etc.
Then, in a different color font, add specific details about your journey: what you pass, street names, etc.
Then, in another color font(?) add sensory details: what did you smell, taste, hear, touch, as well as see on your trip?
Then, consider adding comparisons (similes) that compare something to something else, indirectly by using words such as like or as: “the traffic moved as slowly as ____________” or, “the music blasting from the car radio sounded like demons unleashed from hell”, etc.
Finally, add dialogue to your narrative by including your thoughts, the voices around you, music you hear, etc.
