PART 1: Select a Grief, Loss and/or Bereavement topic that inspires you. Include the most recent literature on the topic, including research studies (both qualitative and quantitative are acceptable) and clinical practice papers. There should be a minimum of seven references, with at least five from peer-reviewed journals.
PART 2: Summarize a case (or use a movie of your choice) of an individual person that demonstrates the issues identified in your paper. Provide a brief case summary of this person (including source of case information) and identify the presenting problem related to grief. Specify the intervention, give a rationale for choosing this intervention, and state the goals of the intervention. You are expected to demonstrate critical thinking through your selection of the specific intervention modality. If a different intervention would be better or useful in addition to the current intervention, name and describe that intervention and why it would be better. Discuss considerations for managing client system ambivalence or resistance to the intervention. As relevant share your personal and professional experiences in working with this client, specific to counter-transference and choice of techniques implemented.
Selection of Case: you may use an example of someone you personally know as the case. You may also choose a case example as presented in a movie, play, fiction or non-fiction book, or professional article. You must identify the source of the case material. It must be clear exactly which material is directly quoted.
