Narrative Topic Proposal Part I: Topic Exercise (not required to submit) Do you have a narrative topic already? Even if you have one in mind, try this to brainstorm… Very briefly, write a few sentences about someone or something—a person or organization or a place—that affected you deeply. Next, write briefly about how this has helped shape your character now. If this isn’t working, try a different subject until you find you have something clear to say. In your development make sure you discuss what happened, who took part, when things happened, where they happened, why they happened, and how. Part II: Topic Proposal (required to submit) In one to two pages, provide a synopsis of your topic. Essentially, summarize what/who you will be writing about and (primarily) how the experience changed you in a significant, powerful way. I should be able to clearly understand your direction for the narrative essay from your proposal. The purpose of this assignment is for me to ensure that you have identified an appropriate theme and focus before you begin writing your essay. My feedback to you may include suggestions for further development or a new direction.
