Law of Forgetting
Prompt: In Section 4.4, we discussed an example with the Law of Forgetting. It states that if a task is learned at a performance level , then after a time interval t the performance level P satisfies where c is a constant that depends on the type of task and t is measured in months. We then solved for P to get . Use this to respond to the following.
1. If your performance level is 80 and c = 0.9, what score would you expect to get on a similar task after 3 months?
2. If your performance level is 80 and c = 0.1, what score would you expect to get on a similar task after 3 months?
3. The expression “just like riding a bike” is often used to describe something that comes second nature and should be easy to do. Based on parts (1) and (2), would you expect the value of c to be closer to 0 or closer to 1 for the task of riding a bike? Justify your answer.
