INSTRUCTIONS: you will demonstrate your knowledge of theory, policy and practice in law enforcement through participation in a project that addresses a contemporary issue in law enforcement.
According to 2021 research these are the top six issues facing law enforcement today:
Recruitment & retention: 37%
Media coverage of police issues: 25%
Officer wellness and morale: 21%
Police defunding: 5 %
Use of force legislation and training updates: 4%
Crime spikes: 3%
You are to to select one of the six top issues and write a proposal to address one issue.
The following steps to write a proposal are as follows:
Define the problem
Present your solution
Define your deliverable and success criteria
State your plan or approach
Outline your schedule and budget
Tie it all together
Edit/proofread your proposal
You should include in your problem the theories related to policy and practice of police. Describe how specific theories of crime control affect the police. Describe how specific theories of organization affect the police.
Examine theories of prejudice and discrimination and their effects on the police in a changing society.
Apply various theories of crime control, human relations and organization in each context to resolve your particular issue (problem) facing law enforcement today.
Your proposal should be in APA format and includes all sources. The page length is 7 pages, not including cover and reference pages.
