In the first week of the semester, I asked you to discuss whether there could ever really be a difference between “dancer and dance,” between style, the elements and principles, and content. Select ONE painting and write an essay that examines the relationship between style and content in the piece. You can choose any work of the 18th, 19th or 20th centuries for your essay. Be sure to include a copy of, or a link to, the work. What you are really trying to do is PROVE that you can’t have a dance without a dancer!
Finally, in the last page of your essay, tell me why you chose the work you did, AND what that choice says about YOU
