Identify and explain, major financial markets and institutions in the us and globally (clo1).
Purpose
The primary purpose of the case is to put yourself in the shoes of Allison Thompson in making investment rebalancing decisions and presentation choices. Decision-making and risk/return considerations of your portfolio is the focus.
Format and Length
My expectation for the quality of these papers will be the same as those of a memo you would hand to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Investment Officer, Chief Risk Officer (CRO) or client of your organization. That means the document should be well organized and written.
The overall length should not exceed 5 pages (1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman or equivalent character 12 excluding appendix). Refer to example below.
Key Case Questions
Outline the various investment philosophies (e.g. value, growth, indexing, quantitative, etc.) and your preferred approach as well as the reason(s) of your preference.
Discuss the return variability and risk/return characteristics of the ProIndex and ProValue funds, specifically relative to a relevant benchmark.
Should you rebalance the ProValue fund? If so, what modifications, if any, would improve the process of this rebalancing? If not, what is your rationale for this course of action?
If given the entire $20 million, how should you propose splitting it between the ProIndex and ProValue funds, why? How should Allison present the historical return for both funds? What aspects should she emphasize? What characteristics of the ProIndex and ProValue funds will likely attract and institutional endowment?
What is your final ‘sales pitch’ to finalize and wrap-up your presentation?
