My clinical time is being spent with a DO, in a family practice setting, in a small, southern Ohio town. I will be precepting there until the 1st of August 2022.
Identify an internal practice issue at your clinical site (quality improvement issue, patient education, staff education, or office policies that will meet the requirements for this assignment). This usually focuses on a “process” improvement.
Make sure this project is doable -to actually be planned, implemented, and evaluated during this course.
This IS NOT a research project – research will be accessed/appraised.
This IS NOT an evidence-based project – evidence-based practice will be evaluated
This IS a quality improvement project – quick continuous improvement based on best evidence
Communication with your faculty on the feasibility of your clinical practice projects’ plan/development/measurable goals in one semester term is encouraged – think SMALL!
QI projects occur in steps – you will be competing ONE step, not all of them this term
No IRB will be completed; therefore, no human subject information can be gathered to measure your goal (i.e. surveys, interviews, etc… not permitted.
The focus of this assignment is on the actual project issue, relevance to the practice site, using a quality improvement model, planning of the project (implementation and evaluation plan), implementation of the project, and evaluation of the project’s effectiveness (impact) at the clinical site (using a measurable goal). The student will complete:
Clinical Practice Project DRAFT (5 points) – incorporate feedback into your CPP proposal paper
Complete the CPP Draft by answering the questions and submit to the course site. Faculty will provide feedback concerning project topic, necessary clarifications, and guidance to prepare your Clinical Practice Project Proposal – this is not an approval to proceed with your project, but a DRAFT to assist in writing your CPP proposal paper.
