Staples is focused on activities that are helping to benefit the environment and communities. This is because their practices will have an impact on employees and customers. The way that they have invested in these areas is concentrating on the long-term effects to different groups and through financial / other resources. (“Corporate Social Responsibility,” 2010)
To achieve these objectives, the company has been working in a number of different areas to include: the environment, youth / after school programs, education, recycling initiatives, creating a good working environment and corporate governance / ethics. The combination of these factors allows Staple to provide assistance to various segments of the community. When this happens, they will have a positive influence on everyone and enhance their reputation. (“Corporate Social Responsibility,” 2010)
What assessment has the company, Staples Inc. used to measure the effectiveness of their programs?
The most effective tool that is utilized by the company is the Corporate Social Responsibility Report. This is when they will provide investors and other stakeholders with updates about the firm’s activities in these areas. What has been your experience with Staples?
Staples is an organization that is dedicated to helping the communities. This is establishing a model that others can follow during the process. Evidence of this can be seen with the company starting Staple Soul. This is a nonprofit that is dedicated to helping reach out to different communities around the world (where the firm has operations). As a result, this is allowing the corporation to effectively achieve their goals with them saying, “Through our commitment to corporate responsibility, what we call Staples Soul, we have become a better employer, neighbor and business leader. Our goal is to not only meet the expectations of our customers, associates, shareholders and communities we serve, but to work toward being a model for others to follow.” This is demonstrating how we had a good experience when interacting with Staples and the programs they support in achieving these objectives. What do other stakeholders say about Staples Inc. Is there a difference of opinion about the results? Where does the difference come from?
Other stakeholders have a positive opinion of the firm. This is because they see how the company is dedicated to continually helping them. However, there are differences of opinions among various groups. This is coming from contrasting individual needs and conflicting views about solving the underlying challenges. (“Diversity,” 2012)
These areas, helps the company to focus on diversity and incorporating various ideas into their basic corporate social responsibility strategy. When this happens, they are able to augment the basic approach in addressing a host of challenges. In the future, this is used as a model for demonstrating how these kinds of programs can be effective while interacting with different groups. (“Diversity,” 2012)
