For this project you will describe the beliefs, attitudes, and assumptions that guide your practice as an adult educator. In addition, you will compare two philosophical approaches to educating adults. The paper should not exceed 8 pages, double space (not including title page or references). Specifically, the following philosophical perspectives will be compared:
● Analytic/Positivism vs. Postmodernism,
● Liberal vs. Progressive,
● Behaviorist vs. Humanist, or
● Radical/Critical vs. Any of the Philosophical Orientations.
Included in your comparison paper should be:
A. 3-page minimum introduction describing the philosophical orientation that guides your
practice of educating adults (10 points). This should also include:
i. The purpose of the philosophical orientation
ii. Key scholars and historical adult educational events related to the philosophical orientation
iii. The role of the learner related to the philosophical orientation
iv. The role of the adult education related to the philosophical orientation
v. The source of authority related to the philosophical orientation
vi. Appropriate facilitation methods related to the philosophical orientation
B. 2-page minimum comparison of your philosophical orientation with the prescribed different philosophical orientation (see above; 10 points).
C. 2-page minimum personal reflection with regard to your future practice as an adult educator and the significance of understanding philosophical foundations of adult education.
