Of the many social issues that we find in Feathers (racism, classism, dis/ability), which do you think is the most “central” problem for Frannie and/or her classmates? Why? Using two examples from the novel to make your case, demonstrate how and why this particular issue is significant for the protagonist or her friends.

At the core of Feathers are many questions of belief/faith, not necessarily faith in Jesus or religion, but faith in those things we cannot see and know directly, especially as young people, but which we have to hope for so that we can make sense of the world we live in. Those things are typically located in people, places, or things we can know and see and touch, things that seem certain and real. What are two people, places, or things that Frannie has, or tries to have, faith in but which ultimately betray that faith? What do you think she learns from those experiences?
