Essay on The Decameron and Tales of a
Thousand and One Nights
Your topic is going to be a
comparative analysis of stories from The Decameron, and stories from The
Tales of a Thousand and One Nights.
Most of the articles supplied to you discuss stories that you have not
read in class; it will be your work to find the theme the critic presents, the
interpretation, the vantage point, he/she brings to the stories and to apply
the theme to your tales.
With great
regret we have only one article on The Tales and so you are obliged to
use criticism for your analysis of Boccaccio but not necessarily on The
Tales; if your critic is deriving certain paradigms regarding literary
modes in Boccaccio with the proper transition you could apply the same concepts
to your Tales stories.
