Starting this week through week five, focus on one of those examples to describe the stages of an outbreak investigation using the five Ws – who?, what?, when?, where?, and why?. This week you will learn about the who (whose involved?).
Select a health agency (state health department, local health department, federally qualified health center, clinic, etc.) in the U.S. or abroad and determine how they identify cases – active or passive surveillance? Explain and give examples. For instance, if you focused on the U.S. for assignment #1, choose a health agency in one of the 50 states and explain how they identify cases of your chosen disease.
