Assignment Task

For this four to six-page critical analysis, you will choose two articles describing evaluations of an early childhood, educational or community-based children’s program. Please do not select articles from our weekly readings. However, please make your understanding of the course readings explicit throughout the paper.

1. Introduction: Briefly introduce and cite your articles. Describe the purpose of the evaluations and perspectives taken. If appropriate, elaborate on your decision of choosing those particular evaluations.

2. The body of your paper: Describe and evaluate the methodology of both evaluations (including techniques for data collection). How do you think the evaluators’ implicit or explicit conceptualization of children, educators, and/or families affect their choice of methods? How do you think the positionality of the evaluators impacts their evaluation? What else affected the process of doing these evaluations? What are the benefits of doing such evaluations?

3. For your conclusion, describe how the chosen articles contributed to your learning about program evaluations.
