Before you began, please read the rubric carefully. For this writing assignment, write between 2 to 3 paragraphs; each paragraph should have no fewer than 5 well-formed sentences. Therefore, your paper will have between 10 to 15 sentences total. (Quoted and paraphrased text will not count towards the minimum length required.) You may either write your paper directly in the “Write Submission” space provided by Blackboard or you may attach a Microsoft Word document file. (Do not use any software other than Microsoft Word and do not submit your paper in the Comments section. Any submission without a SafeAssign score will receive a grade of 0.0.) Using the film “Selma” write on one, and only one, of the following three topics:
(A) Explore in what ways the events represented in “Selma” are similar and/or dissimilar to the protests in 2020 and 2021 in response to the death of George Floyd as represented by the late Rep. John Lewis’ New York Times oped posted below. (B) Explore how the visual representation of the events leading to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in the film “Selma” is different than reading about the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in your textbook Govt11.
(C) Explore and analyze the tactics used and strategy developed by the nonviolent protests as represented in the 2014 film “Selma.”
Last, you are able to upload as many versions of your paper as you wish until the deadline. After the deadline, I will only have access to the last paper you uploaded, and it is that paper I will evaluate and grade.
