As you read the Sharafutdinova’s article, “Public Opinion Formation and Group Identity” through Canvas/Perusall, you are encouraged to ANNOTATE the reading by adding commentary—analysis—to different points in the text.
Your ANNOTATIONS (comments, analysis, and questions) should focus on APPLYING OUR COURSE CONCEPTS and ANSWERING QUESTIONS relevant to the course materials (see below). Work to find points and examples in the reading where you can apply course concepts to explain the social behavior you see and then add comments or questions that apply the relevant course concept to analyze what you’ve seen, or analyze the text from the perspective of Social Psychology based on the questions you are offered below. Remember to DEFINE any course concepts you use in your analysis. Student comments will be REVIEWED by the PROFESSOR and any comments/annotations that don’t follow ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES will cause points to be taken away from your overall score. Try to stay on task for the assignment. I don’t want this assignment to be fully restrictive, in that I want you to think and analyze even beyond our course concepts (think, be creative, be imaginative, be thoughtful), but I am also grading on your ability to apply the course materials, so make sure at least half or more of your comments follow the assignment directions/guidelines.
