Art Analysis Paper (Midterm) Due Week 4, Sunday, May 29th– This paper is research on one specific work of art that peaks your interest. There is no limit to sources you may use, but you MUST have at least 3 references, 2 of which should be from published articles or books. Note when researching, search as “articles, essays, publications, resources” as key words in your search. Use reliable sources, no blogs or facebook opinions and do not use Wikipedia or anything “Wiki” because that is not reliable. Your paper should be 750 words which is 3 full pages (@ 12pt font, double-spaced, 1”margins). When conducting your research and writing for your midterm paper , you should answer the following questions in as much detail as possible:
• What is the object? Give a full description
• Who created it or what culture is it from? Some information about this culture reflected in the work.
• How was it made or built?
• Where was it originally located?
• When was it made or constructed; date and/or time period? Are there any other implications of events in that period that may have influenced the piece?
• What happened to it? Where is it now (museum or lost/destroyed)?
• Final paper – address how these two objects might compare and contrast with one another from differing cultures (use or function, decorative elements)
