The Short Paper #3 will address a current migration/immigration crisis of your choosing and explore its impact on the citizenry, job creation, economic development, and wealth distribution of the sending and receiving country(ies).
-Analyze the crisis using a gender-focused lens to consider work, cultural, and/or power issues that are consequences of the immigrants’ integration into the mainstream of the receiving country. You might consider one or more of these questions in depth:
What kind of power struggles exist between different disenfranchised groups within the receiving countries?
How does gender play a role in the dynamics of these power struggles?
-Evaluate the power struggle between disenfranchised groups, which forced people to flee their homes and native countries and risk security for themselves and their families. Could the situation have been mitigated?
