Major Project 2 – Genre Transformation
Framing:
So far, this class has dealt primarily with your ability to read, understand, and respond to complex information through your own composition. However, another important aspect of this course is your ability to robustly understand a text through its genre and how that genre affects audience expectations.
For this project, you will demonstrate your understanding of core course concepts related to both the theme of the course and the writing skills you’ve been honing over the past ten weeks.
Task:
Transform one of the class texts from one genre to another; you should try to transform the text into a different genre, changing the genre format to deliver the same message to a different audience.
Class texts gonna be shown in the files( pick one )
Additionally, you must complete a 1-2 page reflection which accounts for your choices, and specifically addresses these questions:
Why did you choose to adapt your specific text? What about that text interested you?
Why did you choose to translate that specific text into the genre you chose? What about that genre helps you to reach a specific audience, and why does that specific audience need to learn what this text has to teach?
What areas did you excel in for this transformation, what areas need specific revision, and why?
Requirements:
5-7 pages (or equivalent)
Rough draft turned in by Conference time
1-2 page reflection
