SOCIAL SECURITY WRITING ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW
This assignment gives you the opportunity to reflect on the way a Christian should think about Social Security and Medicare. Because Social Security and Medicare often figure prominently in the savings and retirement plans of many Americans, it is important to understand how these systems work. As a Christian, it is important to understand whether this system comports with the Word of God.
INSTRUCTIONS
You will first review the blog post assigned to this week’s reading. Once you have read it, you will write a 600-word paper that answers the following questions:
1. How do the key aspects of Social Security and Medicare system work?
2. How should a Christian think about Social Security and Medicare?
3. Should it figure prominently into the savings and retirement plans of Americans?
4. What would a God-honoring system look like?
You should include citations to at least two scholarly references (for purposes of this assignment, Professor Chrisman’s blog is considered scholarly). These citations should use the Bluebook footnote citation system. You do not need to include a reference list. Please review the rubric before beginning this assignment.
