Nursing Variable Research Proposal
My research focus as Family Nurse Practitioner is on reducing the proportion of adults with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) from moderate to mild anxiety in Plainfield, Illinois, so I’m considering the following variables:
Independent Variable: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intervention.
Dependent Variable: Anxiety severity level (measured using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 [GAD-7] scale).
Research Proposal – develop a (15 page) research proposal.
1.) APA: Title page, Running head
2.) Abstract: brief intro, purpose, study design, sample selection/size goals (250-word limit)
3.) Paper Introduction Background (relevant brief history of disease or problem) Significance (seriousness, scope & magnitude of problem)
4.) Problem Statement & Purpose of paper
5.) Literature Review (theoretical & empirical) & brief summary of articles leading to next section on framework
6.) Theoretical Framework (2 tables: who, major focus, definition of theorist’s main concepts. Second table w/students’ areas of interests inserted)
7.) Research Questions, objectives or hypothesis
8.) Methods & Procedures: Study design, population (sample size, demographics) sampling description (selection, ethical considerations, measurement (tool, validity & reliability) design limitations
9.) Data Analysis (Plan: measures data distribution, central tendency determining appropriate statistics (predict, explain, causality) Which statistics might you choose if your study was implemented?
10.) Budget and timetable (categories in budget & implementation Frequency and ending of interventions)
