It concerns a decision by the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA), which will be attached under files, named: ”Decision to impose a fine on TikTok, 22 July 2021”.
The decision concerns the Dutch DPA’s decision to fine TikTok €750,000 for violating the privacy of young children in relation to the lack of transparency.
The questions which must be answered in the assignment are:
1. What are the prerogatives of the (Dutch) DPA and which national legislation provides for that? (GDPR and the (Dutch) General Data Protection Regulation (Implementation) Act)
2. What exactly was the factual and legal problem in this decision?
3. Were fines imposed?
4. Who initiated the proceedings?
5. Do you agree with this decision?
