39 year-old woman come to her physician’s office with a painful swollen and tenderness in her right leg. She informed the physician her father was diagnosed as pulmonary embolus and mother as vertebral artery graft. After physical examine, deep vein thrombosis was suspected and the coagulation tests were immediately ordered. A clotting test for APC resistance resulted in a 1.5 ratio of clotting time and an ELISA test for D-timer was positive. The patient was
immediately treated with heparin and molecular test was immediately ordered.
