1. Find simple interest rates from various lenders for the following four different types of loans: auto,
mortgage, personal, and small business. Give three examples of each from three different lenders (so
three auto loans, three mortgages, three personal loans, and three small business loans). The length of
the loan should also be specified within the table because rates vary based on the number of years the
loan is being paid back. You do not have to use the same three lenders for each type of loan. Rates can
be easily found online. Organize your findings within a table (type, lender, rates, and length should all
be included within the table). Note that we are not doing anything with these rates yet. So you are not
doing any calculations with the rates at this point. Part of your grade in this portion of the project is how
clearly articulated the information is within a table—rows should be labeled and columns should be
labeled. If you are not familiar with organizing information within a table, then please meet with an ASC
tutor for feedback after you have a draft.
2. Go onto one of the major websites that lists homes for sale (Realtor, Zillow, Trulia, etc) to find a home
or condo that you’d like to buy (dream big or be realistic—whatever you are in the mood for). Insert an
image of the home that you want to buy along with its listing price. Also, insert the URL from which it
was found. Assume that you have 20% to put down and determine the amount of the mortgage that you
will need to purchase the home. You are not calculating monthly payments yet. You should only
compute how much you need to borrow. Your calculations should be included in your work.
3. Find three different examples of percent increase and three different examples of percent decrease
in the world around us. For the three examples of percent increase, one must calculate the percent
change, one must calculate the new amount, and one must calculate the original amount. For the three
examples of percent decrease, one must calculate the percent change, one must calculate the new
amount, and one must calculate the original amount. These must be realistic examples and you must
show your calculations/work within the assignment. A brief description of the example should also be
included in your work. To further clarify, you must find examples and show work/calculations for the
following:
a. percent increase and original amount are known and new amount is calculated;
b. percent increase and new amount are known and original amount is calculated;
c. original amount and new amount are known and percent increase is calculated;
d. percent decrease and original amount are known and new amount is calculated;
e. percent decrease and new amount are known and original amount is calculated;
F. original amount and new amount are known and percent decrease is calculated.
